I am thinking of purchasing a five year old Mazda 6 2.2 diesel. I've identified a few for ÂŁ7000 that have around 70,000 miles on the clock. Would you count these cars as good buys? Having a 6 diesel for 3 years without issue is not itself indicative of a future without problems. The DPF should be considered part of long-term servicing, and will need to be changed at some point in the future as it breaks down. There are cheaper aftermarket options than going through Mazda directly though.

It’s so disappointing to hear of the dramas with your Mazda 6 diesel. I have a 2010 Mazda 3 diesel and it has been, touch wood, faultless and a damn good and entertaining drive. It s a manual and it just pulls like a train. Great road car. It has a DPF “burnoff” every few hunded km with no dramas.
